Joffre was born in Bath, Somerset. He was a trainee nurse at Glenside Hospital, Bristol. He accepted a lift as a pillion passenger on a Vespa motor cycle, and died in Gurney Slade, Somerset.
Joffre grew up in Twerton, Bath. He attended CBBS (Bath Grammar School). Four months earlier he had returned to Bath after having spent two years living in Sydney, Australia.
